Increasing hospital coverage.
HIF’s coverage has gotten even better over the last 12 months. Now our members are covered for private treatment at almost 1,300 hospitals around Australia – that’s 534 private overnight hospitals and day facilities for inpatients, plus 750 public hospitals.
Reducing the gap.
And that’s not all. HIF has worked with an additional 70 diagnostic in-hospital medical providers (radiology, pathology etc) who now provide you a “no out-ofpocket expenses” service. Plus a large national radiology group has agreed to a fixed fee, removing any surprise expenses and limiting the gap between their fee and your HIF rebate.
Additionally, we’ve continued to attract more health providers to HIF’s AccessGap scheme. HIF members now have access to 30,454 doctors and specialists practising in 111,322 locations around Australia who have agreed to participate in AccessGap, HIF’s medical gap cover arrangement.
AccessGap is designed to reduce or eliminate out-of-pocket expenses whilst in hospital by allowing doctors to use the scheme on a patient by patient basis. By using the scheme, doctors receive a combined payment from HIF and Medicare that is larger than the Medicare Schedule Fee. When you require hospital treatment, talk to your doctor about AccessGap.
Covering hospital “in your home” services.
HIF Hospital policies now cover a number of providers who allow you to access hospital services in the comfort of your own home. The services in the home that you can access with your Hospital cover are:
- Chemotherapy
- Rehabilitation
- Complex wound management (home nursing)
- Chronic health disease management
