Dental services are typically split into two different groups – “General Dental” and “Major Dental”. The dental treatments or procedures you can claim for depends on your level of Extras Cover.
What does General Dental include?
The term general dental refers to routine dental treatments such as:
- oral exams
- scale and clean
- removal of plaque
- minor fillings
- bleaching
- x-rays, and
- bi-maxillary mouthguards.
What does Major Dental include?
In comparison, the term Major Dental refers to more complex procedures, such as:
- dentures
- crowns and bridges.
Where can I find a registered dentist with HIF?
You don’t need to. At HIF, we pride ourselves on maximising your choices, which means you're free to visit whichever provider you choose within Australia. Our only requirement (for legal reasons) is that Members must use healthcare providers who are legally qualified to practice in Australia, and are therefore considered 'approved' by HIF.
