How do I sign up to use the HIF Member App?

To register for an account, you must: 

• Be covered on an active or suspended HIF membership; and 

• Be a Primary Member or authorised Partner; and

• Submit the following details for validation against the current membership information held by HIF: 

  • Membership Number 
  • First and last name 
  • Date of Birth 
  • Email 
  • Submit a mobile number for multi-factor-authentication purposes
  • Agree to HIF Digital Services Terms of Use

Can I use my face or fingerprint to login?

You must have a compatible phone where you have set up fingerprint identification or face identification. Once you have logged into the app using your HIF login details, you will be prompted to use face or fingerprint identification. This information is stored on your device and can be enabled through the app. If you decide that you no longer want to use face or fingerprint identification simply turn it off within your account settings.

What type of claims can I submit via the HIF Member App?

The HIF Member App can only be used for Extras claims, not hospital or medical claims. Depending on your level of Extras cover, here’s what you can use this app to claim for: Dental, optical, chiro, physio, osteo, remedial massage, acupuncture, myotherapy, traditional Chinese medicine, speech therapy, pharmacy, occupational therapy, podiatry consultations and psychological consultations. 

You may also claim for exercise physiology and gym memberships when a signed Health Management Form is attached as an additional photograph.

What are the requirements when submitting claims?

When lodging a mobile claim, please ensure the following details are included:

  • Member Number
  • Surname of person claiming
  • The patient’s first name
  • Email address
  • Clear photographs of all itemised accounts relevant to your claim
  • Clear photographs of all paid receipts relevant to your claim

Note: You will be sent an email confirmation once you submit the claim.

What can I do if my HIF Member App isn’t working?

If your app isn’t working, check the Apple Store or Google Play to make sure that your phone and operating system meet the minimum requirements. If that isn’t the issue, try deleting the app and re-installing it.
