Meet Levi, our Learning and Development Consultant at HIF. Levi started his HIF journey in 2017, and since then has been busy designing and delivering training and projects on everything you can think of, insuring all our staff are constantly focussed on our Members needs and experience. Our newest staff member, Hif, decided to ask Levi a few questions to see how he helps make a #hifference.
Thanks for coming along Levi! Ready to get started?
No problem, Hif! Always ready. Let's do this.
We'll start with an easy one, what do you love about working for HIF?
I’m always challenged, always restocking my toolkit, and always heard when helping solve problems!
How long have you worked at HIF?
I just celebrated my first anniversary.
What does a day in the life of YOU look like?
I arrive at work pumped and ready to tackle whatever happens. Working in Learning and Development, I spend a lot of time with whiteboards, scrap paper and thanking people for listening to my ideas. The subsequent days are generally all about actualising those ideas and helping the business achieve its best.
What three things should a successful HIF employee have up their sleeve?
Ideas! We may have been around for a while but we are constantly evolving, and its a team effort. Humour is also vital; it communicates your humanity and lets you more easily roll with the punches. And lastly; sleeves that are easily rolled up. No one person in this business has one single function. Everything we achieve, we achieve together, and everything requires a lot of collaboration and drive.
Most memorable moment of HIF so far?
There are so many to choose from! I’d say the most memorable moment was being lucky enough to win a Staff Thanks And Recognition (or STAR) award in my first six months. Being recognised and appreciated, as well as supported for my ideas and passion, is something I’m really grateful for.
What are you most looking forward to in the future for HIF?
I already have the joy of seeing people embrace their autonomy and drive some amazing change or idea, but I most look forward to that being the norm in the workplace. Seeing someone I’ve inducted chipping in with some initiative to make a positive change is great to see.
So why HIF?
In my career, I wanted to capture that rare combination of constant change and solid foundations. It was also important to me that I could align with my workplace on an ethical level. I was very lucky to have found HIF, who seemed to tick just the right boxes.
What’s the advice you would give a future staff member of HIF?
There are thousands of ways toward any goal, but listening to your co-workers and especially to your Members, will usually point you in the right direction. After all, Members are the reason every person in this building is here every day! Keep them at the center of what you do, and you'll be fine.
What do you believe your team does best?
We eat barriers for breakfast! As the team behind everything to do with culture and staff, we are well practiced at maintaining momentum and seeing ways around or through any issue we come across.
Thanks for your time Levi, you better get back to it.
