You can visit whichever dentist you like!
From 1 January 2026 HIF has partnered with a network of providers to make a selected range of services more affordable. By choosing an HIF Choice Network provider you’ll receive low or no out-of-pocket costs.1 Find an HIF Choice Network Dentist close to you by searching “Dentist” under ‘specialty’.
Members are still free to visit and claim for treatment from any registered dentist. Benefits will be as listed in the Dental Schedules.
What's the catch?
There isn't one. Either visit a HIF Choice Network provider for low or no out-of-pocket costs on selected Dental services1 or continue to receive your same benefits from a non-Choice Network provider.
Our key requirement is that HIF members must use extras healthcare providers who are legally qualified to practise in Australia, and are therefore considered 'approved' by HIF. So as long as your chosen dentist, optician, physiotherapist, chiropractor or other type of extras healthcare provider is HIF approved, you're free to use whichever one you want.
1 Eligible HIF members with Extras cover can get 100% back for up to two check-ups and one mouthguard per year at a HIF Choice Network provider from 1 January 2026. Members on Basic Extras, Basic Starter, and Vital Options can get 100% back for one check-up and one mouthguard per year. Waiting periods, annual limits and service limits apply.
