What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a form of Chinese medicine which is based on the theory that energy called "qi" flows around your body along pathways called meridians. Acupuncturists believe that illness occurs when something blocks or unbalances your chi, so acupuncture treatment is used to unblock chi and help it flow back into balance.

It is an ancient medical practice, originating in China more than 2,000 years ago. It uses metal needles to stimulate points in the body, often with the addition of manual manipulation, heat or electrical stimulation. Some practitioners use lasers instead of needles to stimulate the acupuncture points
