Voice of the Patient Survey

Voice of the Patient is a survey managed by Australian Health Service Alliance (AHSA). HIF participates in this survey to gather valuable feedback from members about the quality of care provided within their hospital admission.

What is a Voice of the Patient survey?

After a member has had a hospital visit, they may receive a Voice of the Patient survey email which is conducted by an independent party on behalf of AHSA. The survey collects information on the quality of healthcare services received as a private patient in hospital.

When are members contacted to provide feedback and how long does it take?

A Voice of the Patient survey will normally only be conducted on two occasions:

  1. As close to treatment date as possible (ideally before admission), and

  2. A couple of weeks or months after having been discharged.

Participation in the survey is completely voluntary and should not take any more than 1 to 2 minutes to complete.

How will Voice of the Patient protect data and privacy?

Voice of the Patient and AHSA take the protection of data and privacy as seriously as we do and handle all data in strict accordance with the Australian Privacy Act and guiding regulations.

  • Personal details will be kept safe and will not be shared with anyone without permission.

  • Individual survey responses will not be shared directly with any of the healthcare providers who participate in the survey, staff, or hospital personnel (including doctors, nurses or the hospital).

  • If a member has opted-out of receiving communications from HIF, they will not be contacted.

  • A member is welcome to opt-out of the Voice of the Patient at any time by unsubscribing from the survey.

How will a member know this is a legitimate survey?

If a member has received anything from Voice of the Patient and would like to check whether they should participate in the survey, we encourage them to contact Voice of the Patient directly for additional information.
