HIF Confirms No Change to Hospital Coverage and Medical Benefits

HIF News

Following recent reports that other health funds intend to remove or decrease services from their basic and mid-tier hospital policies, HIF Managing Director, Graeme Gibson made these comments.

“We’ve received a lot of calls recently from Members of other health funds who've told us that their current insurer will be decreasing or removing benefits from their health insurance policies. It's not our plan to decrease or remove any of the benefits we pay.

At HIF, we’re committed to our Members. For example, in 2016/17 we paid 93.7c in benefits for every dollar of premium we received for Australian health covers. Compared to bigger funds such as Medibank which paid 83.5c and Bupa which paid 85.0c - we’re punching well above our weight.

In fact, for returning premiums to Members in benefit payments, we're ranked top three in the industry. As a proud not-for-profit health fund, our Members can be assured that we're committed to helping them and their dependents lead healthy and happy lives."
