IN-STORE - Optical Discounts

If you hold eligible Extras cover with HIF, you can visit the retailers below today and access the following exclusive member discounts with a simple flash of your HIF member card. Even better, you'll still receive the maximum benefit available on the remaining amount payable after your discount has been deducted.

  • 20% off lenses and lens add-ons
  • 15% discount off the normal retail price for selected non-prescription sunglasses purchased at retail stores
  • 10% off contact lenses purchased in store
  • 5% off + free delivery on contact lenses from OPSM Direct

Luxottica (EyeQ)

Members shopping at Luxottica (EyeQ) can choose from 2 options:

Option 1

  • No GAP spectacles with lens design choices: single vision, bifocal, extended focus, multifocal.

Minimum rebate of $150 applies.

Option 2

  • 50% off the second pair of glasses (from any frame range or lens design) OR
  • Free second pair of glasses from a selected frame range of single vision 1.5 hard coat OR
  • Free Plano Cancer Council sunglasses (or equivalent) from a selected range.

Discount applies to the lower-priced pair. Some brand exclusions may apply due to frame license agreements.

Eligible HIF members can maximise their optical health insurance benefits with:

  • 2 pairs of single vision glasses from the $199 designer range with no gap (for members with an optical Extras limit of $200 or more).
  • 1 pair of single vision glasses from the $199 designer range with no gap (for members with an optical Extras limit of less than $199).

Rest assured that you'll still receive the maximum benefit available on your current level of Extras cover too. 

Please note: The discounts listed above do not indicate any preference or priority of provider or traditional store based versus internet based providers. Unlike some other funds, HIF fully supports the principle that members receive the same benefit no matter which provider or service delivery method is chosen. Only HIF members who hold an Extras product are eligible for these discounts. We pay a benefit on your online optical purchases based on the date of service and annual limits reset on 1st of January every year.

Benefits are paid on items carried out by a registered optometrist or optical provider, approved by HIF. Benefits are not paid on non-prescription safety glasses, protective glasses, all tinting, coatings or grinding, sunglasses, cosmetic glasses or cosmetic contact lenses, or frames not purchased via a registered Australian optical provider.
