In a nutshell, your PHIS will provide a general overview of your HIF cover, summarising the key product features. It will also replace the tax statement as all the relevant data is sent to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) automatically.
But don’t worry you can also request one whenever you want from us and we’ll send it to you, (via your preferred communication) within 14 days of you requesting it. We’ll include your applicable information on your previous financial year (previous period from 1 July to 30 June).
Does HIF have to provide the Private Health Information Statement (PHIS)?
Yes, we sure do. The Private Health Information Statement (PHIS) will replace the Standard Information Statement (SIS) from 1 April 2019.
Private Health Insurers will be required to provide a Private Health Information Statement (PHIS):
- to newly insured people;
- annually to currently insured persons on a domestic policy;
- upon request;
- when a change is made that might be detrimental to an insured person
