Like most insurance policies, there are certain situations where you will not be covered – such as exclusions and benefit limits to help keep premiums competitive.

These include:

  • Conditions which occurred prior to commencement of your first policy period or during any applicable waiting period (‘pre-existing conditions’)
  • Dental procedures and fractured teeth (unless you have Routine Care or Dental Illness Cover which provides a contribution up to the applicable sub-limits)
  • Routine or preventative Treatments (unless you have Routine Care Cover which provides a contribution up to the Routine Care limits)
  • Some Elective Treatments and procedures
  • Behavioural problems, food and diets, pregnancy and grooming
  • Pre-existing conditions that showed clinical signs before you took out HIF Pet Insurance or during any applicable waiting period (you may be eligible for a Pre-existing Condition Review, for more information, please refer to this page or the PDS)
  • There may also be specific exclusions which may apply to specific levels of Cover.

You should carefully read the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) for a comprehensive list and full explanation of policy exclusions.
