You can use your Extras cover for any included recognised Extras service delivered by a recognised provider. Extras services include treatment by Allied Health service professionals such as dentists, optometrists and physiotherapists (and many more), providers of natural therapies such as acupuncture, remedial massage therapy, myotherapy and traditional Chinese medicine, and, a range of healthy lifestyle services including health management and weight loss.
How do I know which Extras providers are recognised by HIF?
Why do we not have a preferred provider program like other health funds?
HIF believes that our members are entitled to the same benefit conditions no matter which HIF recognised provider they choose. We do not and will not engage in any contractual Extras preferred provider arrangements due to documented health association and regulator concerns that these arrangements may lead to discriminatory practices or health providers compromising quality of patient care, in order to meet an enforced pricing schedule.
